In 2010, Ting-Chuan Chen won the 2nd place for composition competition of The Universal Marimba Competition in Belgium. Then, after continuing to win first prizes in various types of composition competitions in Taiwan and Europe,  Chen’s compositions Two images and Nightmare Realm won the 1st place winner and 2nd place winner of 2013 PAS Italy Composition Contest.

Chen born in 1977 in Taipei, Taiwan, and finished his BA and MA degrees in Percussion Performance at the Department of Music at Fu Jen Catholic University and earned a second master’s degree of music theory and composition in the Department of Music at National Taiwan Normal University, where he studied with Prof. Wen-Pin Hope Lee.

Chen now is assistant principle of Timpani of the National Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan, and pursuing his doctoral degree in composition in the Department of Music at National Taiwan Normal University.
