Journey for Solo Marimba and Percussion Ensemble is an exciting voyage for all involved! The work is scored for an advanced marimbist but the ensemble parts are accessible and reasonable. Scored for marimba soloist and 7 percussionists, Coley adds a piano part to fill out the lower ensemble parts and the music comes to life! This single movement work brings energy and direction to a ternary (ABA) form and the soloist performs a short cadenza before the work concludes. Journey for Solo Marimba and Percussion Ensemble is a wonderful feature for a student or faculty soloist with great sounding ensemble parts that are generally intermediate in difficulty! Students and audiences will enjoy the adventure of Matthew Coley’s Journey!
