Revolutionary Etude arranged by Austin Keck

by Frederic Chopin arranged by Austin Keck

In 1831 Chopin was composing Etude Op. 10 No. 12, and he was influenced by the events occurring in the Polish-Russian War.  Pouring his emotions into what is now known as “Revolutionary Etude,” Chopin composed a work of extreme vitality and frustration. The essence of my arrangement is to take this same mood and quality Chopin wrote for the piano, and provide a more rhythmical sense throughout as a feature on marimba. The biggest challenge of this piece is maintaining the constant stream of sixteenth notes all the way until the end while bringing out the melody line in the right hand. I hope you enjoy this challenging work and feel the same sense of relentless passion as Chopin’s original etude.  -AK
